Focus Groups: Roxbury and RCS

Trampoline conducted two focus groups, the first for stakeholders in Roxbury took place at Town Hall, the second, a session specifically geared toward students and teachers, took place at the school.

An overview of the competitive set, which included logos of other destinations and municipalities that might be in the mix for people as they decide where to visit, relocate, or start a business.

“The true meaning of life is to plant trees, under whose shade you do not expect to sit.”
Nelson Henderson

Hearing from young people should be a part of any polling. The nearly 60 students did into disappoint. They sat at tables and worked together to provide answers. Grand Gorge and Roxbury are fortunate to have such wise and witty students.

Here are excerpts from their responses:

What would they want the future to look like?

We want this to be a place where families can come and enjoy the area not fight for housing or jobs.
More for kids to do (YMCA)
Currently feels like a disconnect between visitors, second home owners, and locals.
It really changed after covid.
We want the population to come back, affordable living, things to do.
More employment, this is a huge factor.

They are proud of:

The people, area, and culture.
Outdoors activities.
The space we have.
We get to live in a place where people come to visit and get married.
Small town: we like that people know each other and look out for each other—They know your coffee order and how you like things.
This is where our family comes from.
We like the K12 school but feel like we are still missing opportunities for kids.
